Tehran - BORNA - The full text of the statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry is as follows:

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the Colombian government's action in opening its embassy in occupied Al-Quds, considering it contrary to the United Nations Charter and fundamental principles of international law.

Al-Quds is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory, and under international law, all states are obligated to refrain from any action that amounts to recognizing the Zionist regime's occupation.

Without a doubt, the alignment of Colombia's current ruling administration with an occupying and genocidal regime, and the legitimization of the occupation of Palestinian land, stands in flagrant contradiction with the independence-seeking and justice-loving ideals that form an important part of the historical struggle of the people of Colombia and Latin America.

The Colombian ruling administration's move to open its embassy in occupied Al-Quds runs counter to the country's international legal obligations regarding respect for the right of nations to self-determination, and constitutes an endorsement of occupation and a violation of the Palestinian nation's right to self-determination. The Colombian government must bear responsibility for the consequences of its unethical decision, which violates international law."
