Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a recent quadrilateral meeting of Iranian, Saudi, Turkish and Pakistani defense and security officials offered a valuable opportunity to advance dialogue on regional peace and security and jointly address shared threats and challenges.

Tehran - BORNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in a post on Instagram, described the recent meeting in Tehran attended by representatives of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye as a valuable opportunity to advance dialogue on regional peace and security and jointly address threats and challenges. He said the agreement to continue consultations was a significant step.

Araghchi said turning this opportunity into lasting cooperation would require agreement on principles, confidence-building, mutual respect for national sovereignty and practical commitments.

Referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s position, the foreign minister stressed that sustainable security must be ensured through the participation of regional countries, without the military presence or interference of extra-regional powers.

He emphasized that this approach was based on regional countries taking responsibility for determining their own destinies.

Araghchi concluded that confronting the Israeli regime’s aggression and malign actions was also a fundamental necessity within this framework to defend countries’ independence and sovereignty and prevent the spread of war. He ended his message with the phrase: “Our neighbors are our priority.”
