The Tehran-based basketball club Esteghlal has secured the signing of American guard Isaiah Whitehead, known for his stint with the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA and more recently competing in Poland’s top league.

Tehran - BORNA - Whitehead, 30, and standing at 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in), brings a wealth of international experience to Iran. His career résumé includes performances for Lokomotiv Kuban (Russia), BC Astana (Kazakhstan), Mornar Bar (Montenegro), Beşiktaş (Turkey), Riesen Ludwigsburg (Germany), and Polish teams Śląsk Wrocław and King Szczecin. He also played in the NBA G League for the Grand Rapids Drive.
