Iran Women’s Volleyball Team Opens CAFA Championship with Dominant Win
Tehran - BORNA - According to the Volleyball Federation, the CAFA Women’s Championship kicked off today (Wednesday, September 30) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and will continue over five days.
Fielding a balanced squad of experienced and young players, Iran delivered a decisive performance in their opening match. Under the guidance of head coach Lee Do Hee, the team swept Kyrgyzstan in straight sets with scores of 25–12, 25–18, and 25–13, securing a convincing three points.
The starting lineup for Iran featured Aytak Salamat, Shabnam Alikhani, Reyhaneh Karimi, Negar Hashemi, Fatemeh Khalili, and Elaheh Poursaleh. Additional players on the roster include Shaqayeq Hassankhani, Zahra Karimi, Parya Hajtemand, Noura Mohammadi, Fatemeh Manzouri, Nazanin Alizadeh, Zahra Salehi, and Ghazaleh Bostan.
Iran will face Tajikistan tomorrow (Thursday) at 1 p.m. local time in their second group-stage match of the tournament.
