Tehran - BORNA - In the letters, Ahmad Donyamali requested SCO member countries and the sports ministers of BRICS member countries to condemn the brutal aggression and attacks committed by the criminal United States and the Zionist regime in the imposed war against Iran.
The Minister of Sports and Youth, through separate letters sent to SCO member countries and BRICS sports ministers, asked these two international institutions to condemn the Zionist-American attack in the imposed war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He requested member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the sports ministers of BRICS countries to take action in response to these inhumane attacks and work towards protecting the lives of civilians, particularly children and athletes.
The text of this letter is as follows:
Excellencies,
With sincere greetings and high regards,
The recent military actions carried out by the terrorist army of the United States and the occupying Zionist Regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran have caused deep concern among many awakened consciences around the world. Such inhumane actions, which stand in clear contradiction with the principles and rules of international law, inter alia, the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations, are regarded as a violation of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent country.
Reports indicate that these unjust attacks have led to extremely tragic humanitarian consequences: direct attacks on a school resulting in the death of more than 165 child students, as well as on a sports gymnasium killing at least 20 teenage girls practicing volleyball, strikes on sports venues destructing the athletic infrastructures related to the federations of Cycling, Table Tennis, Tennis, Hockey, Handball, Shooting, Football and National Wrestling Camps, etc. as well as killing dozens of athletes have been among the other bitter and alarming incidents occurred during these attacks. Such events raise serious concerns regarding the safety of civilians, particularly children and athletes.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized on the principles of peace, regional stability, dialogue, and cooperation among nations. Nevertheless, following these brutal military aggressions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been compelled—within the framework of international law and in accordance with the recognized principle of legitimate self-defense—to take the necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
Under such circumstances, it is expected that Member States particularly the SCO and BRICS sports community adopt a conclusive stance toward such developments and condemn these heinous crimes, in line with striving to support peace, justice, respect for the sovereignty of states, protection of civilians especially children and athletes.
I believe that solidarity and convergence among the member countries, particularly in the field of sports, can play an effective role in strengthening joint cooperation and defending our shared values.
In conclusion, while emphasizing the continuation of sports cooperation and constructive engagement among the member states, I hope that through empathy and collective understanding we will witness the strengthening of peace, justice, and mutual respect among our nations.
