Spanish Embassy in Tehran Officially Reopens as Ambassador Returns
The Spanish Ambassador to Tehran announced the official reopening of the Spanish Embassy on Monday morning, marking the return of diplomatic activities following the recent ceasefire.

Tehran - BORNA - Ambassador Antonio Sánchez-Benedito Gaspar shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account: "Together with my committed team, I reopened the Spanish Embassy in Tehran today to join the efforts for peace in every possible way, following the instructions of the Foreign Minister."

Upon his arrival in Iran via the Astara border crossing on Sunday, the Spanish Ambassador stated that his mission aligns with the Spanish government’s policies to strengthen bilateral cooperation and pursue lasting peace. He noted that evaluating regional infrastructure and exploring economic and investment capacities are high on his agenda.

The Ambassador also expressed hope that beyond diplomatic affairs, the tourism potential of the region would be assessed to pave the way for future joint cooperation.

The reopening follows an announcement last Thursday by the Spanish Foreign Minister. Following the establishment of a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, the Minister confirmed that the Spanish mission in Tehran—which had been closed due to the 40-day conflict—would resume its operations and activities immediately.

The return of the Spanish diplomatic mission is seen as a significant step toward the normalization of European diplomatic presence in Tehran as the region transition from conflict to a fragile diplomatic process.
