Iranian Parliamentary Delegation Arrives in Turkey for 152nd IPU Assembly

A parliamentary delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran has traveled to Turkey to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.

Tehran - BORNA - The 152nd IPU Assembly will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, from tomorrow, April 15, until April 19, 2026.

The Iranian delegation includes Manouchehr Mottaki, Shamseddin Hosseini, Abbas Golroo, Ali Asghar Bagherzadeh, Rahim Zare, Ebrahim Rezaei, and Somayeh Rafiei.

During this assembly, all statutory bodies of the IPU, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, and the Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians, Middle East Questions, and Health, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young Parliamentarians, will hold their respective sessions.

The general debate of the assembly centers on the theme "Fostering Hope, Securing Peace, and Realizing Justice for Future Generations." This gathering provides a platform for representatives to exchange views, examine perspectives, and strengthen parliamentary actions.

Furthermore, the assembly will adopt resolutions on emergency data-x-items and topics under consideration by the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security titled "The role of parliaments in creating effective post-conflict management mechanisms and restoring a just and lasting peace," as well as the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development titled "Building a just and sustainable global economy: The role of parliaments in countering protectionism, reducing tariffs, and preventing corporate tax evasion."

The assembly serves as a global stage for parliamentary dialogue and cooperation, where speakers of parliaments, representatives, and parliamentary policymakers exchange views to explore new pathways for collaboration in the fields of peace, justice, and human progress.
