Reuters: Pakistan’s Army Chief Identifies U.S. Naval Blockade as Obstacle to Negotiations
Tehran - BORNA - According to the British news agency, U.S. President Donald Trump responded by stating that he would take General Asim Munir’s advice under consideration.
Reuters further reported that during a telephone conversation between the Pakistani Army Chief and Trump, General Munir emphasized that the continuation of the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz serves as a barrier to the progress of negotiations with Iran.
Notably, Iranian officials consider the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz a flagrant violation of the ceasefire and have demanded its immediate lifting.
Within this framework, the next round of negotiations between Iran and the United States, which was scheduled to take place in Islamabad this week, remains shrouded in ambiguity.
General Asim Munir traveled to Iran last week at the head of a high-ranking delegation, where he held meetings with senior Iranian officials, including the President and the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament).
