Baghaei on Ceasefire Extension: Iran Closely Monitoring Field and Political Developments
The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: Diplomacy is a tool for securing national interests and security, whenever we conclude that the necessary and logical grounds are prepared to use this tool to realize national interests and consolidate the achievements of the Iranian nation in thwarting the enemies' sinister goals, we will take action.

Tehran - BORNA - Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to reporters' questions regarding the "request by Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, for the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States to extend the April 8 (19 Farvardin) ceasefire," while appreciating Pakistan's good offices and mediatory efforts toward ending the imposed war and establishing regional peace, noted: "The Islamic Republic of Iran was not the initiator of this imposed war, and Iran's actions have all been carried out in line with the inherent right to legitimate defense against the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime."

He added: "Accordingly, while closely monitoring developments in the field and political arenas, the Islamic Republic of Iran will take necessary and appropriate measures to safeguard Iran's national interests and security, and the Armed Forces are also fully vigilant and prepared for a comprehensive and decisive defense of Iran’s sovereignty against any threat or mischief."

In response to another question regarding the pursuit of crimes committed and damages incurred during the U.S. and Zionist attacks against Iran, Baghaei stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will use every opportunity and capacity to hold the aggressors accountable and realize Iran's rights, including the administration of justice regarding the perpetrators and sponsors of war crimes and the demand for reparations."

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also responded to another question about the possibility of another round of negotiations with the United States: "Diplomacy is a tool for securing national interests and security; whenever we conclude that the necessary and logical grounds are prepared to use this tool to realize national interests and consolidate the achievements of the Iranian nation in thwarting the enemies' sinister goals, we will take action."
