Iranian Beach Volleyballers Clinch Victories in Sanya Games Opener
Iran's national beach volleyball teams (A and B) secured decisive victories in their opening matches of the Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games.

Tehran - BORNA - The beach volleyball competitions of the Sanya Asian Beach Games officially commenced on Thursday, April 23. Both Iranian representatives displayed a dominant performance against their opponents to start their campaign on a high note.

In the opening fixture, Iran Team A, featuring the duo of Alireza Aghajani and Abbas Pourasgari under the guidance of head coach Rahman Raoufi, faced Sri Lanka. The Iranian pair controlled the match from the outset, securing a 2-0 win with set scores of 21-12 and 21-15.

Following that success, Iran Team B, consisting of Abolhassan Khakizadeh and Amir-Ali Ghaleh-Noei and coached by Abdulraouf Bestagani, took on Uzbekistan. They maintained the momentum for the Iranian delegation, clinching a 2-0 victory with scores of 21-11 and 21-18.

The Iranian teams will continue their preliminary round campaign on Friday, April 24. The Pourasgari/Aghajani duo is scheduled to face Bhutan at 4:30 AM on Court 2, followed by a match against China (2) at 10:30 AM on Court 1. Meanwhile, the Khakizadeh/Ghaleh-Noei pair will compete against the Maldives at 11:30 AM on Court 2.

The group stage will conclude on Saturday, April 25, with Pourasgari and Aghajani taking on Syria at 4:30 AM on Court 1, while Khakizadeh and Ghaleh-Noei face Qatar at 5:20 AM on Court 3.
