Peskov: Araghchi’s Visit to Russia is Highly Significant
The Kremlin spokesperson described the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to Russia as being of "significant importance" given the current regional developments.

Tehran - BORNA - Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated today that, in light of the evolving situation in West Asia, the importance of discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi is substantial.

As reported by the RIA Novosti news agency, Peskov announced that Putin will meet with Araghchi today in St. Petersburg.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, arrived in St. Petersburg early Monday morning for an official visit to Russia. According to Iranian officials, Araghchi is scheduled to hold talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, and President Vladimir Putin during this trip.

Previously, Kazem Jalali, Iran's Ambassador to Russia, wrote on the X social media platform regarding the visit: "Coordinating interactions and advancing joint programs at regional and international levels is the most important agenda of this trip."

In recent days, Araghchi traveled to Pakistan—which hosted ceasefire negotiations between Iran and the United States—and also visited the capital of Oman. During these trips, he discussed the regional situation following the "U.S.-Zionist imposed war" against Iran, the ceasefire, and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz with his counterparts. Araghchi’s visit to Russia takes place in the shadow of these intensive diplomatic consultations.

Peskov, who previously stated that Russia is not participating in the negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, noted that Moscow remains ready to assist in achieving a peaceful solution between the two sides.
