Iran’s Beach Handball Team Claims Gold at Sanya Asian Beach Games
The Iranian national beach handball team secured the championship title at the Sanya Asian Beach Games on Wednesday, April 29, after a thrilling victory over Qatar in the final match.

Tehran - BORNA - The final showdown began at 4:30 PM Tehran time. Iran dominated the first set with an 18-10 win but faced a setback in the second set, losing 10-15. The match was ultimately decided in a high-stakes shoot-out, where the Iranian squad emerged victorious with a 9-6 scoreline, securing the gold medal.

This victory marks the ninth gold medal for the Iranian delegation, competing under the title "Martyrs of the Dena Destroyer," at the Sanya Games.

Iran's path to the championship was flawless. During the group stage, the team competed in Group A alongside China, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines. Under the guidance of head coach Mehdi Ghashghaei-Rad, the Iranian players defeated all group opponents without dropping a single set, earning 10 points to advance as leaders. In the semi-finals, Iran overcame Thailand with a 2-1 victory to earn their spot in the final against Qatar.

The Iranian squad in this tournament consisted of Ali Heydarian, Alireza Alipour, Alireza Pirzadeh, Amin Kazemi Noureldinvand, Arad Hosseini, Hossein Heydarian, Matin Goldan, Mohammad Mahdi Heydarianpour, Parsa Dehghani Najvani, and Ali Shirani Dastjerdi. The technical staff featured Mehdi Ghashghaei-Rad as head coach, Seyed Hassan Eftekhari as technical director, Hassan Ayin Jamshid as supervisor, Nasrollah Khajegiri as team manager, and Gholamhossein Nikouei as technical officer.

The sixth edition of the Asian Beach Games commenced on Tuesday, April 21, in Sanya, China, following a ten-year hiatus. The Iranian delegation is represented by athletes across ten sporting disciplines in this prestigious continental event.
