Putin and Trump Discuss Iran and Persian Gulf in Extended Dialogue
A senior aide to the Russian President has confirmed that Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held an extensive telephone conversation on Wednesday, focusing on the situation in Iran and the Persian Gulf, as well as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Tehran - BORNA - Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov announced that the call between the Russian and American presidents lasted over an hour and a half. During the discussion, President Putin expressed his support for his American counterpart regarding the recent assassination attempt on Trump’s life, which the Russian leader strongly condemned.

Ushakov noted that Russia remains committed to active diplomatic contact with Iran, the Persian Gulf nations, Israel, and the United States. During the call, President Trump provided his assessment of the completed phase of military confrontation surrounding Iran.

President Putin characterized Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran as "correct," stating that it would contribute to the stabilization of the region. Furthermore, the Russian official emphasized that Moscow views the possibility of any U.S. ground operation against Iran as "dangerous."

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Putin informed Trump that the objectives of Russia's "special military operation" would be achieved regardless of circumstances. However, the Russian president also indicated his readiness to declare a ceasefire by Victory Day.

In response, Donald Trump expressed his belief that an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine is near. The U.S. President emphasized the importance of a swift cessation of hostilities and noted that his trusted representatives would continue their contacts with both Moscow and Kyiv.

Ushakov added that Putin directly informed Trump of Kyiv's shift toward "terrorist methods," citing attacks on purely civilian targets within Russian territory.
