The preliminary competitions for three weight categories of the United World Wrestling (UWW) Ranking Series in Greco-Roman wrestling were held today in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, with Iran securing two finalists.

In the 60 kg weight category, Ali Ahmadi Vafa defeated Sahil from India with a score of 7-1 in the first round to advance to the semifinals. In this stage, he defeated Sumit from India with a score of 5-2 by fall to reach the final. Ahmadi Vafa will face Ri Yu-chol from North Korea in the final match.

In the 63 kg weight category, which is being held in a round-robin format, Mohammad Mehdi Keshtkar defeated Sony Kumar from India with a score of 9-0 in the first group. He then defeated Erfan Jarkani, another representative of our country, with a score of 6-2. In the third round, Keshtkar defeated Zholaman Sharshenbekov from Kyrgyzstan—a holder of two world gold medals, two world bronze medals, and a 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medal—with a score of 10-1 to advance to the semifinals as the group leader. In this stage, he defeated Choi Hyun-woong from South Korea with a score of 9-0 to advance to the final match. In the final, Keshtkar will once again face Zholaman Sharshenbekov from Kyrgyzstan.

Erfan Jarkani, another representative of our country, lost 1-1 in the first round to world champion Zholaman Sharshenbekov from Kyrgyzstan. Despite an 8-0 victory against Sony Kumar from India in the third round, he was eliminated from the competitions due to two defeats.
