Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Ahmad Donyamali has sent a formal congratulatory message to his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Degtyarev, following the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision to temporarily suspend the ban on the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

Tehran - BORNA - The text of Donyamali's letter to the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation reads as follows:

Dear Mr. Mikhail Degtyarev,

Honorable Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation,

Please accept my most sincere congratulations to you and the sports community of the Russian Federation on the recent decision by the International Olympic Committee to temporarily suspend the restrictions on the Russian Olympic Committee, paving the way for a broader participation of Russian athletes in international sporting events.

I am confident that the active presence of athletes from all nations in international competitions, within the framework of the principles and values of the Olympic Charter, will play an effective role in strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and solidarity among nations, as well as advancing the development of sports globally.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently supported the expansion of sports cooperation, the consolidation of solidarity within the global sports community, and the safeguarding of the independence and fundamental values of the Olympic movement. I hope this development will serve as a foundation to further expand bilateral sports cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, while reinforcing sports interactions on the international stage.

Ahmad Donyamali

Minister of Sports and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran
