Iran, Oman Foreign Ministers Discuss Safety Mechanisms for Strait of Hormuz
Tehran - BORNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who arrived in Muscat on Saturday morning heading a high-level political and legal delegation, met and conferred with his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.
During the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat expressed Tehran's sincere appreciation for Oman's deep solidarity and noted the active participation of the Speaker of the Omani Parliament in the recent memorial services honoring Iran's martyred Supreme Leader. Araghchi emphasized the Islamic Republic's unwavering commitment to further strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between Tehran and Muscat.
For his part, the Omani Foreign Minister reiterated Muscat's principled foreign policy focused on utilizing diplomacy to de-escalate regional frictions. Albusaidi expressed hope that the full and comprehensive implementation of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States would drastically improve the overall security architecture of the region.
The two foreign ministers extensively reviewed bilateral ties across various sectors and thoroughly evaluated the latest regional geopolitical updates, with a primary focus on managing stability in the Strait of Hormuz. Following their deliberations, Araghchi and Albusaidi exchanged views on finalizing appropriate frameworks to ensure secure navigation through the strategic waterway, directly aligned with the mandates of the Islamabad accord.
