Bitcoin is trading 50 percent below its all-time high reached in October, but historical patterns suggest the current price level may present one of the most attractive buying opportunities, despite the uncertainty surrounding its future trajectory.

Tehran - BORNA - Bitcoin typically moves in four-year cycles of boom and bust. The current decline is not unusual. Investors have repeatedly seen Bitcoin deliver three years of strong performance followed by a sharp downturn and then a new cycle.

The Bitcoin halving event, which occurs roughly every four years, is often cited as the main driver of this cycle. In the last bear market, after Bitcoin hit $69,000 in November 2021, it fell about 64 percent in 2022. The recovery was swift, however, with triple-digit returns in 2023 and 2024, and a new record high of $126,000 in the first ten months of 2025.

Historically, Bitcoin tends to correct after a period of strong growth. The pattern is three good years followed by one weak year. If history repeats, this downturn could eventually lead to a price recovery.

Some prominent investors, including Ark Invest's Cathie Wood and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, have suggested that Bitcoin's price bottom may have formed.

The severity of Bitcoin's bear markets has also decreased over time. Bitcoin Magazine charted the decline from peak to trough in each cycle: 94 percent in 2011, 86 percent in 2013, 84 percent in 2017, 78 percent in 2022, and around 54 percent so far in 2026.

Whether Bitcoin has truly entered a recovery phase remains debated, but historical evidence suggests it is likely to resume its long-term upward trend at some point.

Bitcoin has been one of the world's best-performing assets for much of its history. From this perspective, buying at a roughly 50 percent discount from its record high could be seen as a rare opportunity, though past performance is no guarantee of future results.
