Pakistani envoy says Iran and Egypt could join Mecca Defense Agreement
Tehran - BORNA - Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow, emphasized that sustainable development and stability cannot be achieved without the participation of active regional players.
"We have no objection to Iran and Egypt joining the joint defense agreement with Ankara and Riyadh," Tirmizi told Al Mayadeen. "We welcome the accession of other regional countries seeking peace and stability in the region to this defense agreement."
Addressing regional security dynamics, Tirmizi pointed out that Pakistan has never harbored aggressive intentions toward Israel, but emphasized that aggressive actions in the region stem from Israel itself.
"What we have witnessed is that Israel engages in aggressive acts, targeting not only adjacent nations but also countries further away in the region," Tirmizi noted. "It is completely clear who is committing aggression in the region. We do not seek war with anyone, but if any party harbors aggressive intentions toward us, we possess both the capability and the resolve to respond."
The Pakistani diplomat reiterated that the pact signed with Saudi Arabia and Turkey is non-hostile in nature and is not directed against any third country, describing it instead as an effort to construct a comprehensive regional security architecture.
