77 US lawmakers question Trump administration over strikes targeting Iranian civilians
Tehran - BORNA - Democratic Congresswoman Yassmin Ansari, in a post on the social media platform X, pointed to the criminal attack on August 31 by the American enemy on a residential home in Bandar-e Kohastak, Sirik County—which was hosting people for a wedding celebration—stating: "As President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s disastrous and illegal war against Iran continues, five civilians lost their lives in a recent strike on a wedding in Iran."
Ansari described this incident as the latest link in a "horrific pattern" of civilian casualties resulting from US strikes in Iran—a pattern that, according to her, also includes the attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab on the first day of the war, which martyred a large number of children.
The lawmaker emphasized that together with Sara Jacobs, Jason Crow, and 74 other colleagues, she has called on the Washington administration to be held accountable for the strike on the wedding ceremony and the continued killing of civilians in the war on Iran, and to clarify what measures are being taken to prevent further harm to civilians.
According to reports, in the initial hours of the US and Zionist regime's aggression against Iran—on February 28, 2026—the "Shajareh Tayyebeh" school in Minab was targeted three times at intervals by missiles from the Zionist-American enemy; a humanitarian tragedy during which a number of male and female students, teachers, school staff, and parents of Minab students lost their lives.
In another incident on the evening of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, a US airstrike on a residential building in Bandar-e Kohastak, Sirik County—which was hosting a wedding celebration—resulted in the martyrdom of five people and the injury of 68 others, the majority of whom were women and children.
