Senior Saudi, Turkish, Pakistani officials to visit Tehran for regional security talks
Tehran - BORNA - Ali Bagheri, Deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), announced that the initiative was proposed by Gen. Munir during his meeting last week with SNSC Secretary Major General Mohsen Rezaei.
Bagheri explained that the senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan are traveling to Tehran with two main objectives: to congratulate Major General Rezaei on his new responsibility as the SNSC Secretary and to hold consultations on regional security.
He added that the proposal was put forward considering the successes of the Iranian nation and armed forces in standing against the aggression of the US and the Zionist regime, which has turned Iran's defense model—based on internal capabilities—into a successful paradigm for national security building.
"Iran's strategic policy has always been that regional security must be provided and guaranteed by the countries of the region, and any foreign interference disrupts regional security and stability," Bagheri stated.
"Therefore, considering Iran's experience in national security building and within the framework of the 'endogenous security' concept with the participation of regional actors, the four-nation meeting in Tehran can be an effective and important step in the process of shaping regional security," he added, expressing hope that the initiative would pave the way for a stable and peaceful region.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported, citing two informed sources, that senior officials from the member countries of the "Mecca Pact"—comprising Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan—are scheduled to meet with Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday to discuss regional coordination.
According to Reuters, these planned talks will mark the first high-level contact between Iran and all members of this trilateral bloc. General Munir visited Tehran last week, holding talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials.
The officials from the three countries will arrive in Tehran on Monday morning and noon, with their joint meeting with Mohsen Rezaei scheduled for Monday evening.
