Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei published a post on his X account in response to the US president’s admission that he had violated the memorandum of understanding to end the war.

Tehran - BORNA - In his post, Baghaei wrote:

“President Trump’s admission that he never believed in the Islamabad agreement and considered it a waste of time once again proved just how little regard the United States has for its commitments.

“For Iran, of course, this is nothing new. Washington has a long history of reneging on agreements and treats its international commitments like disposable goods, easily cast aside whenever honoring them becomes undesirable or difficult.

“Nevertheless, there is no justification for European countries and other apologists for Washington’s actions to continue whitewashing the United States’ unlawful conduct and shielding the country from accountability.

“Violations of commitments cannot be justified; international law cannot be applied selectively; and political spin and distortion cannot absolve Washington of accountability for its misconduct.”
