SCO Leaders Strongly Condemn U.S.-Israeli Aggression Against Iran
Member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) strongly condemned the military attacks carried out by Israel and the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran in June 2025.

Tehran - BORNA - The heads of state attending the SCO summit in Tianjin, China, on Monday issued a joint statement denouncing the recent U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.

The statement described these aggressive acts, which targeted civilian infrastructure including nuclear-energy facilities and resulted in civilian casualties, as a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and Iran’s sovereignty. It further stressed that such actions undermine regional and global security and pose serious consequences for peace and stability worldwide.

The leaders underlined that nuclear safety and the protection of nuclear facilities must be permanently guaranteed, even during armed conflicts, to safeguard populations and the environment. They also reaffirmed their commitment to diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving disputes through peaceful means.

The statement emphasized the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015), noting that it remains binding and must be fully implemented. The SCO members rejected any unilateral or arbitrary interpretation of the resolution, warning that such attempts would undermine the credibility of the Security Council.

The leaders called for the resumption of constructive dialogue among relevant parties, stressing the need to focus on joint solutions in order to prevent further escalation.

Condemnation of Gaza Attacks

According to Sputnik, the SCO members also condemned the actions that have caused civilian casualties and a dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The statement reaffirmed that resolving the Palestinian issue is the only path to achieving peace and stability in West Asia.

Rejection of Nazism, Terrorism, and Double Standards

The SCO leaders strongly denounced efforts to revive Nazi ideology as a justification for genocide ahead of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. They further reiterated their determination to continue joint efforts against terrorism, separatism, and extremism, stressing that all forms of terrorism are unacceptable and that double standards in combating it cannot be tolerated.

The statement also reaffirmed opposition to unilateral coercive measures, including in the economic sphere.

Independent Afghanistan and SCO Development Bank

The member states underscored their commitment to establishing an independent, neutral, and peaceful Afghanistan. They also highlighted the importance of creating the SCO Development Bank and formally decided to establish it.

The SCO, founded in 2001, includes Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. Afghanistan and Mongolia are observer states, while dialogue partners include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
