At the conclusion of UNESCO’s 43rd General Conference in Samarkand, Iran was unanimously elected to four major committees, strengthening its role in international legal, bioethics, cultural heritage, and social policy spheres

UNESCO’s General Conference has officially recognized the Cyrus Cylinder — described as the world’s first declaration of human rights — as a global symbol of freedom, justice, and respect for cultural diversity.

Yazd, located in the heart of Iran and serving as the capital of Yazd Province, holds the distinction of being the first adobe city in the world and the oldest historic city in Iran to be registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. With its unique earthen architecture, labyrinthine alleys, and centuries-old windcatchers (badgirs), Yazd stands as a living testament to Iran’s ancient urban ingenuity and sustainable architecture.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially added the Prehistoric Sites of the Khorramabad Valley in the west-central Iranian province of Lorestan to its list of world heritage.
