The Foreign Minister of Armenia stressed that nothing will destroy the friendly relations between Iran and Armenia, expressing hope that the lifting of international sanctions against Iran would allow Yerevan to fully utilize the capacity for cooperation with Tehran.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani has expressed Tehran’s opposition to any move resulting in geopolitical changes in the Caucasus region, welcoming Armenia’s inclusion in a key transit corridor, which travels through the Islamic Republic linking the countries lying to its north to the Sea of Oman.

The top Iranian military official says the presence of extra-regional powers such as the United States is a matter of concern for the Caucasus region.

Armenia’s foreign minister has dismissed recent claims by US President Donald Trump regarding a supposed 99-year lease arrangement, stressing that such assertions have no basis in reality.

Iran is closely monitoring developments along its northwestern border, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said, warning against the presence of extra-regional forces in the Caucasus.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman did not approve reports of Norway hosting Iran-US talks and also announced that Egypt is not a mediator between Iran and the IAEA.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement on the latest developments in the South Caucasus, stressing that Tehran is closely monitoring ongoing trends in the region and remains in contact with both neighboring countries, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.
