Iran Takes Part in Russia–Belarus ‘Zapad 2025’ Military Drills
Tehran - BORNA - According to TASS, the Kremlin announced that “the coalition force includes operational units and military groups from the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of Belarus, and the Republic of India.”
Troops from Burkina Faso, Congo and Mali also took part in the exercises.
The “Zapad-2025” drills featured 333 aircraft and nearly 250 ships and vessels, with 25 foreign delegations, including those from Iran, Bangladesh, India, Burkina Faso, Congo and Mali, in attendance.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the purpose of the drills is to practice defending the Union State of Russia and Belarus against any potential aggression.
The maneuvers are being held across 41 training grounds, involving 100,000 military personnel and around 10,000 units of military equipment. According to Russian officials, all equipment is modern, tested in actual combat operations, and the exercise scenarios have been designed based on experience from the “special military operation.”
