Iran’s Saeid Afrooz Strikes Gold with New World Record in Javelin
Iranian para-athlete Saeid Afrooz clinched the gold medal at the World Para Athletics Championships after setting a new world record in the men’s F34 javelin throw.
Tehran - BORNA - On the sixth day of the competition, held on Thursday, Afrooz recorded throws of 37.75m, 39.00m, 40.00m, 39.05m, 41.52m, and 39.20m. With his best attempt of 41.52 meters, Afrooz not only secured the championship title but also broke his own previous world record by 36 centimeters.
So far, Iran’s delegation has collected a total of eight medals at the championships: three golds by Amirhossein Alipour, Elham Salehi, and Saeid Afrooz; two silvers by Mehdi Olad and Hajar Safarzadeh; and three bronzes by Emanollah Papi, Elham Salehi, and Zeinab Moradi.
