Strong Start for Iran’s Rowers at Asian Championships — Four Athletes Advance to Finals
Tehran - BORNA - The continental competition began on Thursday, October 16, with Iran’s representatives facing strong opponents from across Asia.
In the women’s heavyweight double sculls, Mahsa Javer and Fatemeh Mojallal competed against crews from Singapore, Uzbekistan, and India, finishing second in their heat to qualify for the final.
In the women’s lightweight double sculls, Zeinab Norouzi and Kimia Zare claimed first place in their group, defeating teams from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Hong Kong to advance to the final round.
In the men’s lightweight double sculls, Amirhossein Mahmoudpour and Amirreza Abdali also reached the final after competing against rowers from Kuwait, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Amirhossein Mahmoudpour competed earlier in the men’s lightweight single sculls, finishing second behind Thailand and ahead of athletes from South Korea, North Korea, and Chinese Taipei to qualify for the final as well.
The finals for these events are scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 18.
