The Iranian Women's Youth National Handball Team has secured the championship title at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain following a decisive victory over India.

Tehran - BORNA - The Iranian Women's Youth National Handball Team has made history by securing the championship title at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain following a dominant victory over India.

The Iranian squad sealed the gold medal prematurely today, Tuesday, October 28, defeating their Indian counterparts 43-26 in their fifth round-robin fixture. Held at the Um Al Hassam Hall, the victory was secured with a comfortable margin, building on a strong first half that ended 23-13 in favor of Iran.

This championship win comes despite Iran having one match still left to play against Hong Kong, reflecting their overall performance superiority in the competition.

Tournament Performance

The competition features a round-robin format among seven nations, including Iran, China, India, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, and Thailand. Iran’s path to the title was marked by powerful performances, including victories over regional rivals:

  • Iran 30 – China 25

  • Iran 27 – Uzbekistan 24

  • Iran 32 – Thailand 16

  • Iran 43 – India 26 (Title-clinching match)

The team is scheduled to play its final match against Hong Kong on Thursday, October 30.

The 3rd Asian Youth Games officially commenced on October 21 and is being hosted by Bahrain until October 30.

The victorious Iranian squad included players such as Sana Fotouhi Bafghi, Reyhaneh Hosseini, Sarina Rostami, Parisan Ahmadi Khosravi, and Negar Babasafari. The team was led by coaches Maryam Rezaeian and Ezzatollah Razmgar, alongside staff members Khadijeh Ghane, Sheida Fallahi, and Akram Habiblou.
