Russian FM: Trump's Nuclear Test Claim "Does Not Match Reality"
Tehran - BORNA - Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, told Russian media: "If we want to speak based on facts, our last nuclear test was conducted in 1991, while the Americans conducted their last test two years later, in 1993. This was more than 30 years ago. China also conducted its last test shortly after that. The last nuclear test in the world belongs to North Korea in 2017."
According to the TASS news agency, he added: "Since then, there have been no signs that any country intends to return to such activity."
Lavrov stated that it is difficult to understand the reasons for the United States' position on nuclear tests, as what the US President claimed regarding the "alleged resumption of tests in Russia and China" does not correspond with reality.
The Russian Foreign Minister noted: "Other tests, including those conducted without the use of a nuclear warhead, are not banned by any agreement. Therefore, we are trying to obtain explanations from Washington in this regard."
