Iran Designates Royal Canadian Navy as a Terrorist Organization
Tehran - BORNA - In response to the Canadian government's unlawful decision on June 19, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated:
"Since the Canadian government, in violation of the fundamental principles of international law, has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—which is recognized as one of the official pillars of the country's Armed Forces—as a terrorist entity, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the principle of reciprocity and pursuant to Article 7 of the 'Law on Reciprocal Action against the U.S. Designation of the IRGC as a Terrorist Organization' (enacted in 2019), declares its countermeasure."
The statement further clarified: "The aforementioned law stipulates that 'all countries that in any way comply with or support the decision of the United States of America to declare the IRGC as a terrorist organization shall be subject to reciprocal action.' Accordingly, the Islamic Republic of Iran identifies and designates the Royal Canadian Navy as a terrorist organization within the framework of reciprocal action."
