Zakharova: Strikes on Iran Were Planned Under the Cover of Negotiations
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, said the attacks on Iran were planned under the cover of negotiations with Tehran — a tactic she claimed the West had previously used in relation to the Minsk agreements.

Tehran - BORNA - Zakharova stated: “There was no talk of Iran withdrawing from negotiations or taking escalatory steps; therefore, these attacks were pre-planned. As many today — both domestically and internationally — have said, these actions were carried out under the guise of negotiations that were apparently being conducted by the very same parties who launched the strikes. In other words, we are witnessing the same tactic again. This method was tested and used for years when Western countries spoke about the Minsk agreements.”

According to TASS, she recalled that regarding the Minsk agreements, Western officials repeatedly emphasized the need for consultations on their implementation and insisted that Russia must adhere more strictly to them, stressing the importance of negotiations. “But later they suddenly admitted that they had deceived everyone and were in fact paving the way for the militarization of the Kyiv government,” she said.

It is noteworthy that the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on Saturday. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were targeted. The White House justified the strikes by citing alleged Iranian missile and nuclear threats.

Iran, in turn, announced that it had begun a large-scale retaliatory operation. Reports indicated missile and drone launches from Iran, and air raid sirens sounded in the Tel Aviv area. U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia were also reportedly targeted. Several regional countries closed their airspace, and airlines suspended flights.
