Iran, Kurdistan Region Officials Discuss Regional Security After US-Israeli Strikes
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a telephone conversation on Wednesday morning with Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, regarding recent regional developments and the dangerous consequences of the US–Israeli military aggression against Iran.

Tehran - BORNA - Barzani expressed condolences over the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the deaths of Iranian citizens resulting from the criminal attacks by the United States and Israel, emphasizing the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening friendly relations with Iran.

Araghchi, in turn, thanked Barzani and described the military strikes—occurring amid ongoing nuclear negotiations for the second time in nine months—as a clear sign of US warmongering and deceit regarding Iran’s nuclear program. He underscored that the aggression by the US and Israel has destabilized the entire region and produced far-reaching global consequences, for which the aggressors bear full responsibility.

The two officials also discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation between Iran and the Kurdistan Region, including under the Iran–Iraq security cooperation framework, aimed at protecting borders and preventing any third-party actions that could undermine regional security.
