Takht-Ravanchi: No messages exchanged between Iran and the U.S.
Tehran - BORNA - Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, stated that Iran is presently concentrating only on self-defense and has not exchanged any messages with the United States.
Emphasizing that the war has been imposed on Iran, the Iranian deputy foreign minister said that the country is exercising its right to self-defense.
In an interview with the program “MS Now,” Takht-Ravanchi was asked whether any messages had been exchanged between Iran and the United States. He replied: “We have not sent any message to the Americans because we are currently engaged in defending ourselves, and our priority is self-defense.”
Referring to remarks by Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of Donald Trump, regarding “Iran boasting about 400 kilograms of enriched uranium,” he said that the Iranian negotiating team had not behaved in such a manner during the talks and had only referred to the existence of that amount of uranium. Takht-Ravanchi stressed that it was not Iran that had gone back on its promises in the negotiations.
Asked whether Iran is willing to return to negotiations, he said: “We are defending our people and our sovereignty, and we are not focused on anything else.”
