Iran’s representative to the United Nations in Geneva announced that Iran, in response to a request by the United Nations, will facilitate and expedite the safe passage of humanitarian shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran - BORNA - Ali Bahreini wrote in a message on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter): “The Islamic Republic of Iran, acting in good faith and in line with its longstanding humanitarian principles, has decided, in response to the request of the United Nations, to facilitate and accelerate the safe passage of humanitarian shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.”

He added: “This measure reflects Iran’s continued commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts and ensuring the timely delivery of essential aid to those in need.”

The Iranian diplomat further emphasized that operational arrangements for implementation will be finalized with the United Nations at the appropriate time.

He stressed that Iran remains firmly committed to ensuring, maintaining, and safeguarding the security and stability of the strait for all non-hostile countries.
