Acting Minister of Defense of Iran and Minister of Defense of Turkey Review Regional Developments
Tehran - BORNA - Brigadier General Seyed Majid Ibn al-Reza, referring to the incitement and war-mongering of the Zionist regime in the region, described the actions of the United States and the Zionist regime in two stages of war and aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran as contrary to international law and regulations, and emphasized Iran’s firm response within the framework of the right to legitimate defense.
He stated: “The Islamic Republic of Iran, despite its awareness and lack of trust in the United States, in order to demonstrate its goodwill and respect for the countries of the region, agreed to negotiations and attempted, through diplomacy and dialogue, to remove the shadow of war from the region. However, the military attack by the United States and the Zionist regime left no option for the Islamic Republic of Iran other than self-defense.”
Referring to the assassination of a high-ranking political-religious leader, officials and military commanders, innocent civilians, and in particular the martyrdom of more than one hundred and sixty innocent schoolchildren, as well as the attack on the destroyer Dena while returning from an international peace mission and not on the battlefield, the Acting Minister of Defense stated: “These are examples of state terrorism and war crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime, which have plunged the region into war, crisis, instability, and insecurity.”
Brigadier General Ibn al-Reza, noting that recent developments have shown that what matters to the United States is the security of the Zionist regime, emphasized: “Certainly, Iran will continue with full force on the path of fully punishing the aggressors, establishing effective deterrence, and ensuring that war and aggression will not be repeated.”
Emphasizing respect for the sovereignty of all neighboring countries, he added: “Security is an endogenous concept arising from collective consensus and agreement. Iran, if assured that no military bases will be granted and that no threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran will be posed from the territories of regional countries, and with the aim of achieving collective security in the region, is ready to sign bilateral and multilateral defense agreements with regional countries.”
The Minister of Defense of Turkey, in this conversation, offered condolences on the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader and other defense and military officials of Iran, and described the attack on Iran as a serious violation of international law.
He expressed solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran under the current circumstances and announced Turkey’s readiness to contribute to the swift establishment of security and stability in the region.
