Baghaei: Islamabad Talks Contingent on U.S. Adherence to Multi-Front Ceasefire
Tehran - BORNA - Esmaeil Baghaei addressed reporters on Thursday, strongly condemning Israel's ongoing crimes in Lebanon. He extended the deep condolences of the Iranian people and government to the families of the martyrs and the Lebanese nation, wishing a swift recovery for the injured. He praised the "legendary resistance" of the Lebanese people against Israeli brutality and hegemony, expressing profound appreciation for Lebanon’s solidarity with Iran during the recent U.S.-Israeli military aggression. He stated that the bond and empathy between the peoples of Iran and Lebanon are stronger today than at any other point in history.
Regarding the ceasefire's scope, the spokesman clarified that the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon was an inseparable part of the ceasefire proposal brokered by Pakistan. As the Pakistani Prime Minister explicitly stated, the U.S. committed to stopping the war on all fronts, including Lebanon. Any action or stance contrary to this is considered a breach of commitment by the United States.
When asked about the upcoming talks with the U.S. in Pakistan, Baghaei noted that the Pakistani government has invited both sides to Islamabad for dialogue. While plans are being reviewed, any negotiation is undoubtedly contingent on ensuring that the U.S. fulfills its obligations regarding the ceasefire on all fronts. Regarding the composition of the Iranian delegation, the spokesman added that the details of the team will be announced once the travel plans are finalized.
