Turkey expresses interest in extending gas import contract with Iran
The Turkish Energy Minister announced that Ankara wants to extend the natural gas supply contract with Iran, which will expire in the coming months, but due to the war situation, negotiations in this regard have not yet begun.
Tehran - BORNA - Turkish Energy Minister Alp Arslan Bayraktar said on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum: Turkey is still interested in supplying gas from Iran to ensure the continuity of energy supply.
He added: There are currently no negotiations underway, but we may enter into talks to examine the possible extension of this contract.
The Turkish Energy Minister also pointed out the tensions related to the Strait of Hormuz and emphasized that his country does not face an energy supply risk despite these developments. Bayraktar noted that even if the Strait of Hormuz is permanently opened, it will take months for energy markets to return to the balance that existed before the war.
