Democratic Party: Trump is a Liar
Tehran - BORNA - In a post on its official X account, the Democratic Party stated: "Donald Trump is a liar." Such blunt public criticism of a sitting president is nearly unprecedented in U.S. history.
This follows the symbolic 2020 gesture by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who tore up Trump's State of the Union speech, later remarking she "couldn't find a page that didn't have a lie on it." A Crisis of Credibility Analysts suggest Trump’s presidency has been destabilized by contradictory statements regarding military aggressions and political moves driven by personal instinct rather than expert counsel.
Despite campaign promises, his first year has seen regional conflicts—particularly involving Iran—that have triggered a Middle East war with global energy implications.
According to recent polls, Trump’s approval rating has plummeted to a record low of 34%.
Impeachment and the 25th Amendment
Representative John Larson (D-CT) declared on X: "President Trump is unfit to perform the duties of the presidency. If his cabinet does not act, Congress must. I have filed articles of impeachment and am working with Rep. Jamie Raskin to establish a commission on presidential capacity under the 25th Amendment."
The impeachment push includes a 13-article document accusing Trump of "initiating wars, war crimes, and maritime piracy."
The document alleges that Trump unlawfully launched direct or indirect wars against Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Nigeria, and Gaza without Congressional authorization.
Other charges include threats of force against nations like Panama and Cuba, and the "militarization of domestic law enforcement."
Notably, some Republican senators have also called for the activation of the 25th Amendment, which allows the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to declare a president "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."
