Iran’s Deputy FM Gharibabadi holds talks with Indian officials in New Delhi
Tehran - BORNA - According to a spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Gharibabadi held a meeting with Sibi George, the Director General (West) of India's Ministry of External Affairs. Sharing a photo of the meeting on the social media platform X, the Indian official noted that the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of mutual interests and recent regional shifts.
Gharibabadi’s visit takes place as Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi is also scheduled to arrive in New Delhi to participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting on Thursday and Friday, May 14 and 15. The ministerial gathering, chaired by India, focuses on regional stability, multilateral cooperation, and economic resilience.
The BRICS ministerial talks will serve as a preparatory session for the 18th BRICS Summit, which is slated to be held in the Indian capital this September. During the summit, the Iranian delegation is expected to hold high-level consultations with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and other participating dignitaries from member states.
