Iravani: International community must adopt a more action-oriented approach toward Palestine
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, speaking at the commemoration ceremony of the 78th anniversary of "Nakba Day" (the catastrophe of the occupation of Palestine), characterized this day as a reminder of the widespread displacement of Palestinians and an ongoing symbol of a major regional tragedy, stating: "This day is a reminder of the mass expulsion of Palestinians and the long-standing denial of their fundamental rights, including

Tehran - BORNA - The text of Amir Saeid Iravani's speech is as follows:

Despite decades of violence, war crimes, and the continuous impacts of occupation, the Palestinian people have preserved their identity, dignity, and legitimate aspirations. Their struggle underscores the urgent necessity for international mobilization to confront the root causes of this situation; including the occupying and expansionist Zionist policies that drive the inhumane pressures imposed on Palestinians, the starvation of civilians and children, as well as the execution of state terrorism aimed at ethnic cleansing and the displacement of Palestinians from their motherland.

While reaffirming its solidarity with the people of Palestine, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes that support for their cause must not remain limited merely to expressions of sympathy. This support requires actively addressing these root causes—causes that are reinforced by broader patterns of militarism by the occupying regime in the region and enjoy the backing of trans-regional actors.

Dear Colleagues,

The continuation of this situation demands a critical review of the approaches that have failed to achieve peace or justice. Surrender is not an option. History will remember kindly those who resisted oppression and defended freedom and the right to self-determination, and it will pass judgment on those who, through silence or indifference, paved the way for injustice.

We continue to believe that the future of Palestine must be determined by the Palestinians themselves. The international community must adopt a more action-oriented approach, reject double standards, and align its conduct with the universal values it claims to uphold. We believe that the pursuit of justice leaves no path other than steadfast resistance. This resolve, which is built upon unity, cooperation, and a shared sense of purpose across the region, remains essential for achieving justice and securing a lasting peace.
