Ghalibaf: U.S. presence in region breeds insecurity
The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament emphasized during a meeting with the Pakistani Interior Minister that while some regional governments believed the U.S. presence would bring them security, recent events demonstrated that this presence not only fails to generate security but actually breeds insecurity.

Tehran - BORNA - Syed Mohsin Naqvi, the visiting Interior Minister of Pakistan, met and held talks with Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament), in Tehran on Sunday afternoon.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ghalibaf expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation of the Pakistani people and government toward the Islamic Republic of Iran during the recent major war, adding: "The Iranian people and officials fully recognize this support, and the Supreme Leader also paid special attention to Pakistan in his first message."

The Parliament Speaker noted that bilateral relations between Tehran and Islamabad are currently favorable, stating: "Cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, and security fields must increase and accelerate compared to the past, and developing parliamentary cooperation is also on our agenda along this path."

In another part of his remarks, Ghalibaf referred to recent regional developments and said: "The recent war imposed on Iran showed that the U.S. and the Zionist regime bring nothing but evil and insecurity for all nations and countries in our region. Some regional governments assumed the U.S. presence would bring them security, but recent incidents proved that this presence is not security-generating, but rather provides the groundwork for insecurity."

The Speaker stressed: "The antidote to these circumstances is for regional countries to pave the way for establishing and developing economic ties, as well as political and security cooperation, through mutual trust and collaboration among themselves."

Pakistani minister hopes Islamabad can bring peace talks to fruition

During the meeting, Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi conveyed the greetings of Pakistan's Prime Minister, Parliament Speaker, and Army Chief to Ghalibaf, stating: "The nations of the two countries were already close, but now they have become closer. I feel the two nations truly love one another, and Pakistanis pray day and night for the success of the Iranian government and nation."

Noting that a highly challenging responsibility has been entrusted to Ghalibaf, the Pakistani minister added: "We witnessed from Islamabad that you stood firmly for Iran's national interests during the negotiations, while simultaneously making efforts to resolve the issues."

He further expressed hope that Pakistan would be able to bring the ongoing peace negotiations to a successful conclusion.
