Pezeshkian: Forcing Iran to surrender 'an illusion'

Tehran - BORNA - "Iran has consistently honored its commitments and explored every avenue to avert war; all paths remain open from our side," the chief executive wrote in a post on X on Wednesday.

"Forcing Iran to surrender through coercion is nothing but an illusion. Mutual respect in diplomacy is far wiser, safer, and more sustainable than war," he added.

The comments came amid US President Donald Trump's continued daily issuance of menacing language addressing Iran.

Observers commenting on Trump's rhetoric note how it contrasts with the multiple instances in the past when the US president has either requested, announced or extended ceasefires with the country amid the Islamic Republic's steadfast retaliation in the face of unprovoked American aggression.

Last June, Trump requested a ceasefire at Tel Aviv's request in the midst of joint American-Israeli aggression targeting Iran.

On April 7, he announced a unilateral ceasefire in the latest instance of such aggression following at least 100 waves of decisive and successful Iranian retaliation against sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets across the region.

The US president then extended the ceasefire, and most recently, announced "calling off," what he referred to as, a planned attack against the Islamic Republic.

Iran has, meanwhile, refused to rejoin negotiations unless its conditions, including cessation of aggression on all fronts, removal of an illegal naval blockade of the country, and elimination of illegal sanctions, were met.
