Ghalibaf: We will strongly demand full implementation of agreements
Tehran - BORNA - Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's Parliament Speaker, met with Igor Sergeenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus, on the sidelines of the foreign delegations' tribute ceremony for the martyred leader.
Ghalibaf expressed gratitude for Belarus's high-level delegation presence, saying: "We are pleased that you traveled to Tehran in these days of mourning to pay tribute to the martyred leader. We also appreciate Belarus's positions and support for Iran against the Zionist regime and US aggression, as well as President Lukashenko's message of condolence on the martyrdom of the leader and his congratulatory message on the election of the new Supreme Leader."
Referring to recent regional developments, Ghalibaf stated: "Although we lost a wise, brave leader and spiritual father of the Islamic world in this war, Iran achieved victories in defense and political arenas, and the Iranian people stood united against the enemy."
Ghalibaf emphasized that Iran will respond with strength to any aggression, adding: "We will strongly demand full implementation of the agreements, and if the US and the Zionist regime fail to fulfill their commitments, Iran will resume proportionate actions."
He noted that the Americans have fully realized they cannot militarily confront Iran, and Israel's claims are baseless propaganda. "Despite extensive efforts to achieve their goals, they failed and ultimately requested a ceasefire themselves."
Ghalibaf said that America's efforts to bring NATO and other allies into the war also failed. "Even while claiming to have destroyed Iran's missile capability, we continue to see Iranian missiles hitting their intended targets. Today, both friend and foe recognize this understanding as a sign of America's defeat."
He added that alongside maintaining its defensive strength, Iran has begun close relations with regional countries and, in coordination with neighbors, prevents any US interference in the region.
Ghalibaf emphasized the need to expand Tehran-Minsk cooperation, expressing hope that countries opposed to US unilateralism, including within BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, will expand their cooperation to counter this approach.
Sergeenko conveyed President Lukashenko's message and expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the leader. He described the martyred leader as a great statesman who worked tirelessly for Iran's progress and development, noting that his loss is a tragedy for Iran and all free people worldwide.
He condemned Zionist regime aggression against Iran, stating: "We condemn attacks against Iran's people and infrastructure. A true friend is known in difficult days. Iran has been, is, and will be our friend."
Sergeenko emphasized Belarus's opposition to unilateralism and dictatorship in the international system, adding that Belarus is ready to expand cooperation with Iran in all political, economic, cultural, and social fields, and supports expanded parliamentary cooperation in friendship groups, BRICS, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international forums.
