Baghaei: We will never forget US crime of downing Iranian passenger plane
Tehran - BORNA - Esmail Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, wrote on X on the anniversary of the US crime of attacking the Iranian passenger plane on July 3, 1988: "Today marks the anniversary of one of the most heinous US crimes against the Iranian nation. On July 3, 1988, Iran Air Flight 655, en route from Tehran to Dubai, was struck by two missiles from the USS Vincennes over the Persian Gulf, killing all 290 passengers and crew, including 66 innocent children. In a bitter irony, the commander of the vessel received a medal of honor from the US government for committing this crime."
He added: "We honor the memory of the Iranian passenger plane martyrs and will never forget the unforgivable crime of the US administration."
