Iran's MFA issues strong statement condemning US military aggression against the country
Tehran - BORNA - The statement reads:
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the aggressive US attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past 24 hours. These brutal attacks not only constitute a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4, but also pose a serious threat to international peace and security, rendering futile all efforts over recent months to reduce tensions and establish calm in West Asia."
"Just 25 days have passed since the signing of the ceasefire understanding, yet the US regime has openly violated almost all its components. By attacking Iran's transport infrastructure, fishing boats, cargo vessels, and meteorological facilities, it has committed the most heinous war crimes."
"The US regime has also interfered in the process of implementing necessary arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, causing a return of insecurity and disruption to international commercial shipping. Simultaneously, by using the territory and facilities of countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf to prepare military aggression against Iran, the US has effectively turned these countries into arenas for its illegal and criminal war against the Iranian nation."
"The Islamic Republic of Iran, while affirming its determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against US military aggression and any other aggressor, warns against any participation or cooperation with aggressor parties. The Foreign Ministry notes that neighboring countries are obligated under international law to prevent aggressor parties from using their territory and facilities to commit military aggression against Iran. The origin and source of attacks against Iran will be considered legitimate targets for defensive strikes by the brave armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
"Alongside its treachery, the US administration continues its campaign of misinformation and fabrication to distort facts and justify its violations. The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that what the US President claimed about the outcome of the Muscat talks on Saturday is pure fabrication born of desperation. The Muscat talks were fundamentally focused on arrangements for the administration of the Strait of Hormuz and transit routes. Unfortunately, through overt and covert pressure on Oman, the US prevented an outcome on this matter."
"The Foreign Ministry, expressing regret over the UN Secretariat's unconstructive approach to America's clear law-breaking and bullying, reminds the UN Secretary-General and Security Council of their responsibility to address violations of international peace and security, and calls for holding the aggressor parties accountable and prosecuting and punishing the perpetrators and commanders of crimes committed against the Iranian nation."
