Iran Captures Asian U18 Volleyball Title After Defeating Japan

Tehran - BORNA - Iran’s boy's national under-18 volleyball team captured the 2026 Asian Championship title on Saturday, defeating Japan 3-1 in a thrilling final match.

The squad, led by head coach Abdolreza Alizadeh, bounced back after losing the first set to secure the gold medal. The match scores stood at 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-22.

With this victory, the Iranian team concluded their campaign undefeated, having secured consecutive wins against the Philippines, India, Bahrain, South Korea, and China before overcoming Japan in the final. Iran had already secured its berth in the FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship by advancing to the tournament's semifinals.

The championship-winning roster included Kamyab Abdollahifar, Abolfazl Pasha Amiri, Milad Salari Toumaj, Pedram Heidarisafat, Amirali Shams, Nima Piri, Sajjad Asadi, Amir-Mohammad Hemmati, Amir-Reza Hosseinzadeh, Ali Sheikhzadeh, Arash Ghahramani, Alireza Valaei, Benyamin Olfat, and Aydin Choudar.

The team's technical and administrative staff consisted of Kamran Sharifi (Team Manager), Abdolreza Alizadeh (Head Coach), Farhad Ghaemi, Amin Ali-Akbari, and Siamak Azimi (Assistant Coaches), Towhid Asghari (Fitness Coach), Ali Barg-Shadi (Performance Analyst), Javad Parviz (Physiotherapist), and Mehdi Fathi (Massage Therapist).
