Iraqi Prime Minister Arrives in Tehran for Official Talks

Tehran - BORNA - The Iraqi Prime Minister's Media Office announced in a statement that al-Zaidi departed Baghdad for Tehran to meet and hold discussions with senior Iranian officials. Details regarding the composition of the accompanying delegation were not released.

Speaking prior to his arrival, the Iraqi prime minister outlined the objectives of the trip: "Today we travel to Tehran on an official visit to discuss shared files, bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and ongoing efforts to establish security and stability in the region with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Al-Zaidi emphasized the deep relations between the two neighbors, noting that Iraq and Iran are bound by historical, civilizational, geographic, and economic ties. He stated that continuing engagement based on dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect is essential for fostering sustainable development and prosperity for both nations while reinforcing regional and international security.

Iraqi Government Spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi confirmed that the prime minister will lead joint discussions aimed at serving the strategic interests of both countries. Al-Aboudi reaffirmed that the high-level consultations will focus primarily on dialogue as a mechanism to secure long-term regional stability.
