China Reaffirms Support for Iran's Sovereignty and National Dignity

Tehran - BORNA - The meeting took place on Friday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers in the resort city of Cholpon-Ata, Anadolu Agency reported, citing a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Expressing Beijing's deep concern over escalating tensions in West Asia, Wang described the Islamabad agreement as a valuable achievement of multilateral mediation efforts. He noted that the understanding reflects the shared desire of Iran and the broader Middle East to end hostilities and achieve lasting stability, emphasizing that it must not be abandoned.

The Chinese top diplomat stressed the urgent necessity of returning to the consensus established under the agreement and resuming diplomatic dialogue. He added that China continues to support mediation efforts led by Pakistan and other regional actors to resume negotiations and resolve the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

For his part, Araghchi reiterated that Iran's fundamental willingness to engage in negotiations has never changed, emphasizing that Tehran does not seek a continuation of conflict.

Highlighting the critical nature of current regional developments, the Iranian foreign minister stressed the need to enhance communication and coordination between Tehran and Beijing, expressing confidence that China will continue playing an important role in de-escalating tensions and restoring stability.
