Pezeshkian Hails Alamut's UNESCO Listing: Cultural Heritage Unites Us Despite Our Differences
Tehran (ISNA) - In a message published on his social media account, President Pezeshkian stated: "The World Heritage inscription of Alamut is the recognition of a part of Iran’s diverse and shared history. Cultural heritage can bring us together despite all our differences and remind us that Iran belongs to all Iranians."
The announcement came on Sunday, July 26, during the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea, where the dossier for Alamut Castle and its defense network was officially approved and added to the World Heritage List.
The historical complex is celebrated for its remarkable architecture, engineering, adaptation to harsh mountainous terrain, and sophisticated water management systems.
With the inscription of Alamut, the total number of Iranian sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List has reached 30.
