More than half of AI-related job titles in Europe's largest economies are now outside the technology sector, with artificial intelligence increasingly integrated into roles such as sales, human resources, legal services, and marketing.

Tehran - BORNA - Data from the job platform Indeed shows that AI-related job titles are no longer confined to technology and data fields. In several major European economies, more than half of these positions now fall outside the tech sector, indicating that AI skills, tasks, and tools are becoming a standard part of the labor market.

Use of generative AI tools in Europe has grown significantly, with 15 percent of people aged 16 to 74 in the EU using such tools at work over the past year, according to Eurostat. The trend began in software and data roles but has now expanded into sales, human resources, legal services, customer support, and administrative work.

Data from the first quarter of 2026 shows Germany leading with 288 AI-related job titles, followed by the UK with 160, France with 138, the Netherlands with 84, and Spain with 81. These figures represent a significant increase compared to the first quarter of 2022, when Germany had 72 titles, Spain had eight, France had 35, the UK had 61, and the Netherlands had 21.

The share of AI-related job titles has also risen sharply. In Germany, they accounted for 4.2 percent of all job titles in early 2026, compared to just 0.8 percent four years earlier. France recorded 3.3 percent, the UK 2.7 percent, Spain 2.3 percent, and the Netherlands 2.2 percent. All of these figures were below one percent in 2022.

In terms of AI spreading to non-tech roles, Germany leads with 59 percent, followed by the Netherlands at 58 percent. France and the UK both recorded 54 percent. Spain is the exception, with 64 percent of AI-related roles still in tech and 36 percent in non-tech positions.

New AI-related jobs include sales managers, instructors, legal advisors, operations specialists, human resources managers, and marketing specialists.

According to Indeed economist Pavel Adrian, adding AI to a job title indicates employers consider it a key part of the role, reflecting how AI is reshaping job structures across industries.
